Very good news! "Charleston is taking a major step toward a cooler, greener future with ReLEAF, Mayor Cogswell’s citywide tree canopy initiative. The goal is to plant 5,000 new trees in five years, with a focus on neighborhoods that need shade most. ReLEAF strengthens public health, climate adaptation, and neighborhood quality of life. The program is planned to launch in spring 2026!”
